Facilities

The William Woods University campus is more than 170 gently rolling acres;

it includes two lakes and more than 40 buildings. A brief description

of the facilities follows:

Residence Halls

Bartley Hall in the Spring

Students live in Allen, Atkinson, Bartley, Booth, Brockman, Cockrell, Harmon, Jones, Lambert, Randall B. Cutlip, Serena, Smith, Stone-Campbell, and Swearingen Halls.

Campus Buildings

Amy Shelton McNutt Campus Center: Grouped together in the McNutt Center are services geared to assist students in making the most of their university experience. They include the offices of enrollment services, community life/ LEAD, multicultural affairs, safety and security and student involvement, as well as the post office, the Logo Store and a student lounge and snack bar. The center, covered by a 52-foot-high geodesic dome, also houses the Randall B. Cutlip Auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,352.

Virginia B. Cutlip Center: Erected adjacent to the Aldridge Recreation Center, this tri-level building houses the University Advancement (alumni and development) and University Relations offices.

Clark Cox Science-Language Center: This three-story structure contains faculty offices; classrooms designed for instruction in the sciences, languages and mathematics; a language lab; a pocket computer lab for biology and physics, and laboratories for earth science, chemistry, physics and biology, including such state-of-the-art equipment as an automated DNA sequencer and a real-time thermal cycler.

William S. Woods Academic Building: This three-story brick structure houses administrative offices, classrooms and faculty offices.

Dulany Library: The main floor of this two-level building has a service and circulation center and three reading rooms containing the reference collection, the bound periodical collection and the educational materials collection. It also houses a 220-seat auditorium. Dulany Library contains approximately 151,000 resource materials and 400 current periodicals in open stacks. Resources in electronic form, such as periodical indexes and full-text journal articles, are available to WWU faculty and students worldwide from any computer with an Internet connection. Dulany Library is a charter member of MOBIUS, a statewide consortium of academic libraries that features patron-initiated borrowing of more than 14 million library items throughout Missouri.

University Information Technologies: This building houses academic and administrative computing offices, computer Helpdesk, student computer lab and an electronic meeting room. The computer Helpdesk is a central location for phone, network and computer inquiries and assistance for faculty, staff and students. The student computer lab is open more than 75 hours a week to students, providing access to two high volume networked laser jet printers, a networked inkjet color printer, a scanner, 25 computers and trained workers to assist with questions within the lab. The electronic meeting room is used for training sessions and meetings, providing access to a SmartBoard, projector and computers for specialized training.

Equestrian Science Complex: WWU Equestrian Studies facilities are located directly on the main campus of the university. These facilities include two large heated indoor arenas, a large lighted outdoor arena, and 150 box stalls located in four facilities, a cross-country course, and two air-conditioned classrooms.

Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts: This 31,000-square-foot building provides academic facilities for visual, performing and communication arts students. Its Mildred Cox Art Gallery, which is open year-round for public viewing, features revolving exhibits of professional and student artwork.

Dulany Auditorium: This 300-seat auditorium serves as the university concert hall. Because of its pleasing acoustics, many campus theatrical and musical presentations are performed on this stage. Built in 1907, Dulany Auditorium is the oldest building on campus and a Missouri Historical Landmark.

Tucker Dining HallTucker Dining Hall: This two-story building provides dining facilities for the student body. The main dining room on the upper level has seating for approximately 300. Also on the upper level is Nielsen Dining Room, a formal room used for meetings, special dinners and receptions. The lower level of Tucker contains dining space for approximately 125.

 

Counseling and Health Services: Established to serve the mental and physical health needs of the students, this facility contains a private counseling room, a laboratory and an examination room.

Myldred Fox Fairchild Alumni House: This restored Victorian three-story residence provides overnight accommodations for alumni, visiting dignitaries and friends of the university.

Thurmond Chapel: This beautifully

designed 100-seat chapel, a gift from

the Thurmond ChapelThurmond family, offers an intimate

setting for worship services for the University and community. Two out-

standing features of Thurmond Chapel

are a Schlicker pipe organ, donated by

the Parents' Association, and a digital

Maas Rowe Carillon, made possible by

a donation from the Grover Hermann foundation.

John G. Burton Business and Economics Building: This tri-level

building provides space for business,

legal studies, American Sign Language/

interpreting and other classrooms, a

model courtroom, an ASL interpreting

lab, computer labs and a commuter
