Biology Major

classNational Science foundation funding, along with WWU support, has enabled us to establish excellent research
facilities in molecular biology. All WWU research is carried out through close faculty/student interaction. Current projects include the epidemiology of tick-carried disease. Upper division pre-med and pre-vet classes with course work in mathematics, physics and chemistry prepare you for professional or graduate school. If you are interested in ecology and wildlife resources, new courses in environmental science and field biology
provide a background in these biological fields. As members of the Rice Biological Field Station Consortium, we have access to their outdoor laboratory site.

If you love horses and think you want to become a veterinarian, we have just the program for you! A new bachelor of science degree in biology with an equestrian concentration is available at William Woods University, bridging the gap between equestrian science and biology for students who want to go to vet school. Unfortunately, an equestrian science major alone will not prepare you for vet school, additional science courses are a must. A biology major with equestrian science concentration will allow you to fulfill vet school prerequisites and accommodate equestrian science courses without facing an additional year of study.
