Q: Where is the ASL Lab?
A: The ASL Lab is located in the Burton Building, room 008.
Q: Is it true that all ASL students are required to go to ASL Lab every week?
A: Yes. All students enrolled in ASL I to IV are required to attend lab two 45-minutes session per week. ASL V will attend one 45-minute session per week.
Q: How do I schedule for my required lab time?
A: Within the first week of each semester. There will be a sign-up sheet posted in the lab. Once you signed up for those sessions, you have agreed to stay with the session of your choice for the rest of the semester. Be sure to foresee avoiding any further conflict so it will not affect your lab session.
Q: What other things I can do in the lab besides the required lab session?
A: You can use one-on-one tutoring, use the VCR to record yourself signing, borrow ASL videos, or even chat with the tutors to improve your conversation skills.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment to do these other activities?
A: You must make an appointment to work one-on-one with the tutor for any homework you want to work on. Be sure to inform your tutor that you desire to work twenty-four (24) hours ahead of time.
Q: For two 45-minute sessions per week requirement, can I go to the lab for 20 minutes four times a week to get my hour done?
A: No. The each lab session are required for 45-minute limit. You must attend the lab time you signed up for every week for the semester.
Q: If the holiday falls on the same day I am required to take lab session, will I be excused for that day?
A: No. You will have to substitute another lab session later in the semester.
