Admissions
What's New with Admissions?

lakeThe Office of Admissions is not only the first office students deal with when they choose to pursue William Woods University, we also continue to support students once they step foot on campus as a "Woodsie."

We are proud of the students we recruit and occasionally, we offer special events that honor our incoming students.  April 11, 2008, the Office of Admissions will host the fourth annual Academic Honors Reception for those students who had at least a 3.6 GPA or a 27 ACT/1220 SAT score.

The weekend of March 7th, 2008, we offered scholarship interviews for the prestigious Amy Shelton McNutt Scholarship which is 75 percent of tuition room and board and the Distinguished Scholar Award which is $12,650-$15,650 a year, the New Century Award which ranges from $8,500- $11,000 a year and the Presidential Award which varies between $7,500 and $10,000. Overall there were more than 100 students who submitted scholarship applications but only 25 interviewed for the William Woods University Merit scholarships.

There were many qualified candidates however, the panel chose incoming Freshman Rachel Rivenbark  from Story City, Iowa as the 2008-2009 McNutt Scholar.  Rachel had a 31 on her ACT and a cumulative GPA of 3.90 and will be a graduate of Roland-StoryCity High School.  Rachel was well prepared for her interview and delighted the panel with her dedication, academics and ability to articulate her answers.  She was the unanimous decision from this committee of faculty, staff members and past McNutt recipients. Rachel is planning to attend William Woods University to major in Equine Administration however, she has also shown an interest in other academic programs. We welcome Rachel to WWU and know she will be an outstanding asset to our University.  Congratulations, Rachel Rivenbark  this is quite an honor!
