Bob Jones became WWU's first full time strength and conditioning coach in July 2001.
After only one year on the job, positive results are being seen in the performance and competitiveness of the Owls.
Coach Jones works closely with student-athletes in each of William Woods' nine sports programs. Jones designs and implements preseason, in-season, and postseason, sports-specific and individual-specific training programs for WWU student-athletes.
Prior to joining the William Woods athletic staff, Jones was a member of the strength and conditioning staff at Missouri University. Coach Jones came to the University of Missouri in 1988.
While at Mizzou, Jones served in several different roles, beginning as a graduate |
assistant. Promoted to Assistant Strength Coach in 1990, Jones worked with the Tigers' swimming and diving, wrestling, tennis, soccer, volleyball, softball, volleyball, football and basketball teams. In 1999 Coach Jones became the Associate Strength Coach for men and women's basketball.
While at MU, Jones worked with seven conference championship teams and numerous NCAA Tournament teams. One of his highlights while at MU was working with the 93-94 men's basketball team that won the Big 8 championship with a perfect 14-0 record and was a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The 93-94 team was considered the strongest team in the nation.
Jones is a native of Bowling Green, Mo., where he graduated from Bowling Green High School. While at Bowling Green, Jones was an all-district football player, captain of his football and track teams, and senior class president.
Jones received his undergraduate degree from Central Methodist College where he majored in physical education and health. He was a member of the Eagles' football team and was the team captain his senior year. While at Central Methodist, Jones passion for strength and conditioning became a career goal. He developed and implemented programs for himself and some of his friends during those years.
Jones received his masters' degree at Missouri University in Human Performance.
Bob and his wife Eva are the proud parents of six children. They are Gabriel, Anthony, Veronica, Antonita, Cecilia, and Alexander. Bob and Eva have been married for the past 16 years. The Jones' family resides outside Millersburg, Mo.
