Darren Munns joined the athletic staff in September of 2005, becoming the third Head Baseball Coach at William Woods University. In his first season at William Woods, Munns led the team to the top winning percentage (.654) and conference record (13-7) in the school's history.
He has captained the team from a 19-40 season prior to his arrival to a 63-46 mark in his two seasons at William Woods. In Munns' first season at William Woods, the Owls qualified for the AMC Tournament. In his second year, the Owls took a deeper step into the postseason; qualifying for the Region V Tournament. The Owls set a pair of offensive school records in '06, hitting .352 as a team and scoring 6.8 runs per game. WWU's batting average ranked eleventh in the nation. Munns coached four first team all-conference performers |
and the American Midwest Conference Freshman of the Year in his first season. The William Woods baseball team has also had a team GPA of over 3.0 during Munns' tenure.
Munns joined the Owls after back-to-back record setting seasons in his two years at Harris-Stowe State University, culminating with 34 wins in 2005. Munns has coached at the collegiate level since 1991, including eight seasons at the NCAA Division I level.
Harris-Stowe made a 23-game improvement from the 2004 to 2005 under coach Munns. 2005 also marked the first time in school history that the Hornets appeared in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Munns' first recruiting class produced four First Team AMC All-Conference players, one of whom made First Team All-American.
Before taking the helm at HSSC, Munns served as Assistant Coach at Central Methodist College (1999-2001) in The Heart of America Athletic Conference. While at Central Methodist, he served as hitting, infield, and third base coach. The 2000 team broke numerous offensive records, appeared in the conference championship game, and qualified for the NAIA Regional Tournament.
Immediately before joining Central Methodist, Munns served as Associate Head Coach at Drexel University (1991-1998), in Philadelphia. Munns' primary duty at Drexel was serving as Recruiting Coordinator, and pitching coach. During his tenure, Drexel had their strongest recruiting classes in school history, including three Freshmen All-Americans.
The Drexel Baseball program also had one of the largest single season improvements in NCAA Division I history, winning 19 games in 1991 after a four win season in 1990. Drexel went on to five consecutive winning seasons and three conference championship game appearances during Munns' tenure. Drexel's graduation rate was in the 90th percentile under Munns's tutelage.
In addition to Munns' vast college coaching experience, he spent two summers (1995-1996) managing the New Jersey Pilots of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. The wood bat league is sponsored by Major League Baseball and is composed of elite college players from all areas of the United States. The Pilots won their division in Munns' first year and qualified for post-season play for the first time in six years.
Munns is a Mexico, MO native and received his undergraduate degree in physical education from Missouri Western State College (1991) in St. Joseph, MO. He is currently working on his Masters Degree at William Woods University.

Craig McAndrews joined the Owls' Athletic Staff in fall of 2006, becoming an assistant under Head Coach Darren Munns. He works with catchers and outfielders. McAndrews is also the Head of Outdoor Facilities at WWU. He coordinates and supervises all outdoor field maintenance at the University.
McAndrews played under Munns at Harris-Stowe State University for two years, finishing his playing career in 2006. Coach McAndrews threw over 100 innings out of the Harris-Stowe bullpen in two seasons. Over two seasons, he amassed a 8-4 record and tallied eleven saves.
Before pitching at Harris-Stowe State University, McAndrews spent two seasons at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. He caught and pitched as a freshman and served as the designated hitter when he wasn't on the hill as a sophomore.
McAndrews is a Omaha, Neb. native and Omaha South High School product. His playing career at Omaha South was highlighted by a seventeen inning performance in his senior campaign in which he hurled 178 pitches.
Craig is a 2007 graduate of William Woods University. He received his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management.
