Dan ChaplaChapla Hired to Lead William Woods Women's Basketball

(FULTON, Mo., May 14)--William Woods University has announced the hiring of Dan Chapla as Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Chapla replaces Marcy Myers who resigned her position in May.

Chapla comes to William Woods from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri.  Chapla spent six years as the head women’s basketball coach at Culver-Stockton.  During his time at Culver-Stockton, Coach Chapla produced a 100% graduation rate and his program produced 12 NAIA scholar athletes.

The CSC Wildcats compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).  Coach Chapla’s teams finished in the top three in defensive field goal percentage during five of his six years as the head coach.  They qualified for the HAAC post-season tournament five times.

Prior to Culver-Stockton, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, and one season in the same capacity at the University of Central Missouri.

"Dan Chapla brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the women's basketball position at William Woods University,” said William Woods University Athletics Director Larry York.  “We look forward to working with Coach Chapla as he continues our tradition of developing independent and competitive young women while playing a hard-nosed and exciting brand of basketball."
