Schmoele Signs With Owls (Dec. 17)
FULTON, Mo. (Dec. 17) - Head Women's Cross Country Coach Jamie Moreno has announced the signing of Stephanie Schmoele to a William Woods University Letter of Intent to run for the Owls in 2008. Schmoele comes to William Woods from Fox High School in Arnold, Missouri.
“I am delighted that Stephanie has committed herself to our distance program here at William Woods,” said Coach Moreno. “I think she will be a great fit for our team and give us more depth next year. Stephanie had an impressive three years of cross country at Fox High School and was a state qualifier her junior and senior years, just missing class 4 All-State in 2006. The one thing that Stephanie will bring with her that can’t always be coached is her competitiveness in races, a quality I look for in recruits.”
Schmoele was named to the 2005, 2006, and 2007 All-District team. She was also a Class 4 State Qualifier, and All-Conference selection, in 2006 and 2007.
“Stephanie is a fun and good person to be around with a good heart,” said Fox High School Cross Country Coach Matt Warren. “She is a very hard working kid who loves to run. I feel her potential is limitless as she is a naturally gifted runner. She is extremely competitive and a winner who can achieve anything she desires.” |
Locke Signs With Owls (Dec. 11)
FULTON, Mo. (Dec. 12) - Head Women's Cross Country Coach Jamie Moreno has announced the signing of Jordan Locke to a William Woods University Letter of Intent to run for the Owls in 2008. Locke comes to William Woods from Hannibal High School in Hannibal, Missouri.
"I am very excited about Jordan joining the owls cross country and track family," Coach Moreno said. "Jordan is a well rounded individual and has been involved in so many different activities at Hannibal High School. Her ability to balance so many extra curricular activities with her school work and running will make her transition into college much easier. I feel she has the talent and potential to run in our top seven her freshman year if she works hard over the summer. She has had a great high school career and been a state qualifier multiple times in cross country and track. She brings big meet experience with her and that will her next fall. I see her doing well in cross country and being better at the 3k-5k distances on the track."
Locke earned three varsity cross country letters at Hannibal High School. She has also earned four varsity track letters. Locke was named All-Conference and All-District in the 4x800 her freshman, sophomore, and junior year. She was also named to the All-District in the 800 and 1600 meter her freshman and sophomore year.
Locke also achieved several individual awards during the cross country season. She was an All-Conference and All-District selection her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was also a state qualifier her sophomore, junior and senior year.
"Jordan has been a solid performer in track for us for three years," said Hannibal Track Coach Mark St. Clair. "She has competed in a variety of races from the 4X400 meter to the 3200 meter. She is a positive role model for others and a wonderful young lady. She is a fine student/ athlete and will do well at everything she decides to do."
"Jordan is a very coachable athlete that has a lot of potential as a runner," said Hannibal Cross Country Coach Charlie Newland. "At the collegiate level I believe that she will excel in the 3,000 and 5,000 as well as cross country. She is a hard worker and is a well rounded person. Jordan is a very focused person that is going to be able to add a lot to William Woods as a student and as an athlete."
Locke plans on majoring in Exercise Science at William Woods.
