Women's Soccer Coaching Staff

Coach Josh GansonJosh Ganson became the William Woods University Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer coach in the summer of 2006.  Ganson is the fourth women’s soccer coach at William Woods.  The program was founded in 1997.  This season Coach Ganson will transition to Head Women’s Soccer coach only.

The women’s program went 4-13 in his first season at WWU.  The Owls went 8-8 in 2007, including 3-1 in the American Midwest Conference.  The Owls ended their season with a 2-1 loss to Hannibal-LaGrange College in the first round of the Region V play-in tournament.

Ganson joined the William Woods coaching staff after a success-filled year as the head of the women’s soccer team at William Penn University in 2005. He was named the 2005 Midwest Classic Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Statesmen to a 12-5-2 mark. Penn finished the season with a 6-1-1 record in its final eight games on the way to a conference co-championship and a second-place showing in the conference tournament.

Prior to his work at William Penn, Ganson served as a graduate assistant coach at Nichols College and New England College.

Ganson also served as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity coach for the men’s programs at Graceland University from 2000 to 2003. During his time at Graceland, the Yellowjackets compiled a 37-31-3 record and advanced to one Regional Tournament.

Ganson graduated from Graceland University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Coach Liz RunnelsLiz Runnels is in her first year as an Assistant Coach at William Woods University. Runnels begins her coaching career at her Alma Mater. She was a four-year starter for the Owls from 2004-2008. Coach Runnels graduated in May of 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education.

During her time at William Woods, she was named to the 2005 and 2007 Academic All-American Midwest Conference team.

Prior to William Woods, Runnels was a stand out at Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri. Runnels was named to the All-State team her junior year, and Honorable Mention All-State her senior year.

Runnels is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at William Woods.
