Thirty-two years ago, Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and
Lily Tomlin wowed movie audiences in the hit comedy, "9 to 5." Now the William
Woods University Theatre reprises the popular show in musical form.
"9 To 5, the Musical" will be performed at 7:30 p.m.Oct.11-13 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 14 in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.
Based on the 20th Century Fox Picture, written by Patricia Resnick, "9 to 5" opened in 2008 as a musical, with music and lyrics written by Parton.
It is a story of friendship and revenge set in the Rolodex era. The musical tells the story of three extremely improbable friends, Violet (played by Suzi Johnston of Fulton, Mo.), Judy (Bailey Campanini of Camdenton, and Doralee (Paige Runge of St. Louis, Mo.).
Treated terribly by their control freak boss, Mr. Hart (Drew Arnett of Columbia, Mo.), they set out to change some things in the company, like who's in charge.
This musical is a hilarious combination of crazy fantasies, day dreams and impulsive actions. When these three women get together and make plans, look out, because something crazy could be just around the corner.
Other cast members are Kayla Pulliam of Bloomington, Ill., as Roz, the love-crazy assistant; Michael Dodson of St. Louis, Mo., as Joe; Jonathon Meyer of Creve Coeur, Mo., as Dwayne; Matt Kornegay of Glendale, Ariz., as Josh; and Melissa Williams of St. Louis, Mo., as Margret.
Also, Jen Steindorf of San Diego, Calif., as Missy Hart; Kassaundra Davidson of Roseau, Minn., as Maria Delgado and a candy striper; T.J. Green of Brandon, Miss., as Dick; and Stephen Chamineak of Hazelwood, Mo., as Bob Enright.
Community members of the cast include Doug Sain as Tinsworthy, Mona Elliot as the detective, and Tiaja Segelhorst as the doctor. Nicole Elliot, a WWU alumna, plays Kathy.
