Section Five: Courses taken at other institutions

    • Mid-Missouri Association of Colleges and Universities (MMACU)

MMACU consists of WWU, Westminster College (Fulton), Lincoln University (Jefferson City), Stephens College (Columbia), and the University of Missouri-Columbia.  It is designed to give students at each institution an opportunity to take courses unique to one of the other institutions.  MMACU registration materials are available in the Registrar’s Office.

Students are limited to courses not offered at WWU and to one course per semester.  MMACU courses are considered resident credit and count in the WWU grade point average.

WWU students should consider a course at any MMACU member other than Westminster at least a three-hour time commitment because of the travel time involved.  Students are responsible for their own transportation to courses taken at any of the MMACU member institutions.

    • Transfer credit

Students planning on taking courses elsewhere during the summer need to fill out a Summer Course Approval form in the Registrar’s Office.  This is the only method for students to find out how or if courses at other institutions will transfer to WWU.  Remember that the last 30 credit hours toward graduation MUST be taken at WWU.

Transfer evaluations can only be done with official transcripts.  These are transcripts sent directly from the Registrar of the other institution(s) where the courses were taken to the WWU Registrar.  Hand-delivered transcripts are not accepted for evaluation.

Transfer equivalencies are determined by the Registrar, in consultation with the division chairs as necessary.  Transfer equivalencies are listed on the student’s course history.

Student may apply up to 90 hours of transfer credit toward their degree.  Students transferring credit may only apply 70 of the allowed 90 hours from a community college.

Advisors cannot “give credit” to students if courses do not appear on the course histories or transfer equivalency forms.
